Hi there I am 22 years old. My leg sort of felt funny one sunday thought I had pulled a muscle. Sort of bugged me monday but nothing really visibly wrong at the time i didnt think twice about my leg. now of course i think about it. Tuesday June 30th my leg was so swollen heavy, hard to the touch and hurt sooo bad i had my dad drive me to the ER where they walked in and said your here for a few days and started me on heprin. a few minutes later i am getting an ultra sound where they though my clot was from my stomach to my knee. a few hours later i'm in interventional radiology where i had the greatest team of ir nurses. They were so fun and nice at St Johns Maplewood , MN. FOund the clot. they decided i need the vena cava filter put in. flipped me over and busted up some of the clot and put a catheter on it to drip for 24 hours when they revisited the clot and it was nearly gone. my clot only ended up being about 6-8 inches long. Still pretty large. A stent was put in. They found I have May Thurnder Syndrome.
I was informed no birth control ever again. (i was on Yaz only for about a month and a half i had used the pill for about 4 years prior. and fyi yaz has a class action law suit against them great... )
Was in for 6 days icu for 3days. my inr was going down instead of up. i mastered the louvenox and was all set to go home. Not only did i get a cold in the hospital i also got my period talk about the greates week of my life! My body felt like it was hit by a bus. its now 7/15/09 I am back to work still tired and my bruises are starting to go away
